Finding quality kids and family entertainment is about to get easier. Today, we're excited to announce the addition of 'Kids & Family' on The Roku Channel! Kids & Family makes it easy for children and parents to find a great selection of content available for free and through Premium Subscriptions available in one, easy-to-access destination. Additionally, we're introducing Parental Controls within The Roku Channel to give parents an additional layer of control. Both will be available starting later today.

An aggregated experience with no additional subscriptions or fees required

Kids & Family brings a combination of TV shows, movies, live linear, and short-form video together to watch for free in a single place. In addition to the thousands of free, ad-supported options, users who have already subscribed to Premium Subscriptions through The Roku Channel will be able to view subscription-based kids and family content from partners such as Hopster, Noggin and Zoomoo, as well as children's entertainment from services such as HBO and STARZ, directly within Kids & Family.

We’re making it easy for users to find Kids & Family entertainment on The Roku Channel.

  • TV and online favorites like Bob the Builder, Care Bears, Leapfrog, Little Baby Bum, My Little Pony, Super Mario Brothers, Thomas & Friends, and more will be available from partners like All Spark, A Hasbro Company, Lionsgate, Mattel, pocket.watch and more.
  • Live linear streaming will feature 24/7 kids programming from partners powered by XUMO including, Amoeba, BatteryPop, and KidsGenius, among others.
  • And last, but not least, five exclusive episodes of Ryan's World by pocket.watch specials will be available directly on The Roku Channel for the first time.

If you have a subscription to HBO, STARZ, Con TV, Dove Channel, Hopster, Noggin, Up Faith and Family, or ZooMoo through The Roku Channel, subscription-based kids and family entertainment will appear directly in the Kids & Family experience. This allows fan favorites like Bubble Guppies, Dora the Explorer, Peppa Pig and more to live alongside the free, ad-supported titles.

More entertainment, fewer commercials

We're partnering with great brands to deliver a compelling collection of entertainment without any additional fees, all while having approximately just 40% of the ad time of linear television.

Parental Controls Within The Roku Channel

As mentioned above, we are offering additional PIN-based playback controls to The Roku Channel to help parents set access limits to content based on ratings. Once enabled, a PIN number will be required in order to view videos on The Roku Channel based on the content rating. For more information on Parental Controls within The Roku Channel, click here.

Kids & Family is available on The Roku Channel starting later today on Roku devices, therokuchannel.com, and on select Samsung smart TVs that access The Roku Channel. These new additions further reinforce The Roku Channel's place as your one-stop-shop for free and premium entertainment.

Happy Streaming!
