In early January, we announced that in addition to 10,000+ free ad-supported movies and TV episodes, the option to add Premium Subscriptions from SHOWTIME, STARZ, EPIX, and more was coming to The Roku Channel. We're thrilled to announce that starting today, Premium Subscriptions is beginning a phased rollout within The Roku Channel on select Roku devices.

We're making subscription streaming easy and putting you in control. With Premium Subscriptions on The Roku Channel you have the ability to browse all available content before signing-up, you get free trials for all subscriptions, you can sign-up in one-click, and enjoy simple subscription management with a single monthly bill. The addition of Premium Subscriptions makes The Roku Channel your one-stop-shop for streaming entertainment. Users who sign-up for SHOWTIME, STARZ or EPIX before March 31st will enjoy a 30-day free trial of those services on The Roku Channel.

Once your Roku device has the update, you'll have access to 25 Premium Subscriptions within The Roku Channel including services like SHOWTIME, STARZ, and EPIX. Additional services include CollegeHumor's DROPOUT, CuriosityStream, FitFusion, Lifetime Movie Club, NOGGIN, Smithsonian Channel Plus, and Tastemade. When will I know my device has Premium Subscriptions on The Roku Channel?

Premium Subscriptions on The Roku Channel begins rolling out today to select Roku devices in the U.S. All supported devices* are expected to receive the update in the coming weeks, beginning with Roku players and concluding with Roku TV models. You can check to see if you have access to Premium Subscriptions on your Roku device by launching The Roku Channel and looking for a new row called “Browse Premium Subscriptions.” See example below:

Note that if you own multiple Roku devices it's possible one of them may have access to Premium Subscriptions while others may not have access until a later date, so we'd encourage you to check all of your devices for eligibility over the coming weeks.

Can I access Premium Subscriptions on The Roku Channel today?

Later today, all users will be able to sign up for free trials of Premium Subscriptions on therokuchannel.com via supported web browsers. Due to the phased rollout, you may want to check if your Roku player or Roku TV can currently access Premium Subscriptions before signing up on the web.

Roku Mobile app

Mobile app viewing of The Roku Channel is available on iOS devices starting today, while Android devices will roll out in phases beginning in mid-February. With the updated mobile app, customers can watch their Premium Subscriptions, free movies and TV shows, live news and more on The Roku Channel anytime, anywhere. Customers who sign up for Premium Subscriptions on The Roku Channel will have the ability to watch their subscriptions via the Roku mobile app. However, Premium Subscriptions are not available for purchase via the Roku mobile app. Customers must sign up for subscriptions on their Roku device or at therokuchannel.com in order to view on the mobile app.
