This month, I’ve had a number of folks ask me about some of my favorite streaming hacks and trust me, there are many! With Mother’s Day approaching next month, I’m going to focus on the streaming tips that make mom-life a little easier. CONTENT IS KING: Give your kids the entertainment they want! With over 5,000 channels on the Roku platform, there is certainly a lot to choose from. Channels such as PBS Kids and Hasbro offer great free entertainment, while KidzBop and Future Scientists will keep your kiddos occupied with some awesome activities. If you’re looking to bring more learning into the living room, Phonics for Kids, HappyKids, HappyKids2 and The Gigglebellies are more great, free options to encourage education. Interested in more? Don’t worry, we’ve already highlighted the top free Roku channels for kids. YOU’RE IN (REMOTE) CONTROL: The Roku mobile app isn’t just for when you’ve lost your remote. If your kids are so engrossed in their favorite show that they ignore your very polite requests to come to the dinner table, don’t fret. Use the Roku mobile app to pause content (or if you have a Roku TV, turn off the TV completely) from the comforts of the other room. Content may be king but mom will always been the queen of the castle.  FOR KIDS’ EARS ONLY: Speaking of the Roku mobile app, soon multicast private listening will be available to users, which enables up to four iOS or Android devices to access the private listening feature. Private listening enables the TV audio to come out of your mobile device's headphone jack, making it easy to watch content without disturbing anyone. With multicast private listening, this means up to four kids will be able to stream as they please, while you get to enjoy some peace and quiet.  HANDS FREE, THE WAY TO BE: If you’ve had to deal with your child commanding your mobile phone, then you know the pain of trying to get them to give it back. The Play On Roku feature within the Roku mobile app makes it easy to stream your personal videos, music and photos to the TV. You can keep your kiddos hands free of your precious smartphone while still entertaining them with videos from their most recent birthday!
